For many years, Mapledurham Lock has lost some of the charm that once made it so special. In the past, residents and visitors alike enjoyed spending time there, admiring the flowers and stopping for an ice cream by the water.
We are now working to bring that vibrancy back. As a Community Interest Company led by six dedicated directors, we are fully committed to revitalising the area and restoring it as a place the community can once again take pride in and enjoy. We are funded from grants and donations. Click here for more information.
Our Mission is simply - to revive Mapledurham Lock into a Community Space for All
Why This Matters
• Purley on Thames misses the lock being a place of beauty and family fun - many residents have fond recollections and stories of the flowers and the ice cream of days gone by.
• The existing space is structurally unsound and underutilized, looks tired and uninviting.
• A revitalized community space would serve residents and boaters of all ages, fostering connection, local pride, and opportunity.
