Bring the idea to life! - Credit to Kate and Evelyn Lockhart in creating this image

The start of the idea to try and revitalise the area by Mapledurham Lock went way back over years.

Richard Coates shared his vision for the future of Mapledurham Lock space (was formerly the Cafe) at the Annual Parish Council Meeting in April 2025. The ideas were welcomed and the passion in the room was great to see. There was a lot of work ahead, but having the local backing is hugely beneficial to make the project a success.

The Environment Agency have given their time and attention to high level plans and worked with the CIC to get the ball rolling.

In April 2025 the Mapledurham Lock CIC was registered.

In June 2025 We had some help with our friends from Lambourn Junction CIC - their director Christian Noll kindly guided us from his journey in Lambourn to help us and gave insights and expertise gained from their projects.

In October 2025 we had a fully operating bank account.

In February 2026 we were very fortunate and grateful to receive financial grants from Purley Parish Council and from Veolia.
